I am a Barrister sole with approval to take direct instructions without, in most situations, the need for an instructing solicitor. As a former in-house lawyer for a large government department, I understand it can often be daunting and difficult to resolve your legal and tax problems. I provide a wide range of services to individuals finding it difficult dealing with complex organisations and government departments. Equally, I may be of assistance to organisations and government departments with legal issues, sensitive OIAs, discovery, and as an independent reviewer of investigatory work. Tax/IRD disputes

I have extensive experience in dealing with IRD disputes, both civil and criminal, including Child Support matters. I draft pre-litigation dispute documents. I have appeared in most tax related court forums.

Insolvency Matters

I have wide experience in debt and insolvency matters, particularly in relation to IRD debt. I can assist in resolving or in reaching agreement in respect of debt or payment issues you are facing.

Tax/Financial Prosecution

I have dealt with numerous tax prosecutions, including PAYE and evasion matters, and the accompanying use of government powers, i.e. demands for documents or searching premises. I can assist in helping you defend yourself or reach a mutually acceptable resolution.

COVID -19 - Entitlements

Businesses are entitled to payment or loans under either the wage subsidy or the small business cash flow loan scheme. I can assist in applying for these entitlements, or helping where disputes arise at a later date.

OIA/Privacy Act Requests

I have a good understanding of Official Information Act and Privacy Act principles. I can help you obtain the information you need to achieve the outcomes you want. Equally I can help you manage any backlog if you are subject to the OIA.

Mediation/IRD Facilitation

I am an Associate Member of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of NZ. I have chaired a number of IRD facilitations, and sit on two statutory committees. The benefit of a mediated outcome is that you have a final say on what is agreed to.
